Sandi Williams, M. Ed., RD, CDE

Sandi Williams is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator and holds a Masters’ of Education in Counselling Psychology.

Sandi has worked at St. Michael’s Hospital in Diabetes Education, The Lipid Clinic and The Osteoporosis Centre since 1989.

Sandi is an expert in the nutrition management of diabetes and volunteered on the Expert Committee for the Canadian Diabetes Association 2013 Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Nutrition Chapter http://guidelines.diabetes.ca/Browse/Chapter11

She continues to work at St. Michael’s Hospital, as well as in her private practice.Her experience in a teaching hospital supports her practice of evidence-based nutrition therapy.

2013 Diabetes Educator of the Year Award

University of Toronto, Banting and Best Diabetes Centre

Each year the Banting & Best Diabetes Centre (BBDC) presents one award to a diabetes educator who has demonstrated outstanding efforts and achievements in his/her role as a diabetes educator. This award is meant to recognize those who educate at the patient/client and community/professional levels. Candidates must be nominated for the award by a health care professional colleagues and peers. Sandi Williams is the first Registered Dietitian to win this award.
